Soprano Laura Enslin is a sought-after teacher and performer in Syracuse, New York. Committed to nurturing singers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, she is the founder of CNY Singing Garden, a private voice studio steeped in the art of self-expression and process of discovery. Laura’s holistic, mind-body approach to teaching draws on her rich background in bel canto singing, sound healing and therapy, and yoga. “Creativity is not an exclusive club,” says Laura, who teaches all styles and genres of singing. “Music can help us achieve our full potential, while making a difference in the lives of others.”

In the wake of the pandemic, Laura has sung the role of Mary in the world premiere of Charles Lupia’s chamber opera, Home Burial. She also performed with the Quarentet Percussion ensemble and members of Symphoria. Laura recently appeared in an arts education musical titled School Board for the New York State Board of Regents.

She has presented more than a dozen world premierescommissioned by the Society for New Music, Syracuse University (including a piece by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Robert Ward) and The Commission Project.

Laura’s solo repertoire includes music by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Mahler and Villa-Lobos. Her operatic and stage roles include Nedda (I Pagliacci), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Adel (Die Fledermaus), Atalanta (Serse), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Norina (Don Pasquale), Marie (La Fille du Régiment), Laurette (Doctor Miracle), Cecile (Iolanthe), Mrs. Hayes (Susannah), Dorine (Tartuffe), and Guinevere (Camelot).

Laura has elicited praise like “superb and lovely” (Syracuse.com), a “perfect vessel of beautiful singing” (The Buffalo News), and a “plush, velvety voice and unfailing sensitivity” (Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle).

In addition to teaching privately, Laura serves on the music faculty of Onondaga Community College. She previously spent 14 years at Syracuse University, teaching in the Musical Theater Program and then the Jazz and Commercial Music applied study track. She also has taught at Nazareth College and the Eastman School of Music.
